nomad girls project

The NOMAD Girls Group project offers a confidential and supportive environment for young girls, providing a safe space to navigate the challenges they encounter daily.

our GIRLS GROUP PROJECT PURPOSE

NOMAD strives to provide a secure setting where connections are nurtured, aiming to empower these girls to comprehend and embrace their identities. The group convenes weekly, engaging in face-to-face sessions, and frequently hosts inspirational speakers and activists.

NOMAD & Whitefriars School

As a key part of our programming and in partnership with Whitefriars school we a facilitated series of dedicated workshops, where each week the team at NOMAD led by our female youth advocate Claire supported young girls to explore themes around  identity, belonging and in their own words ‘What does it mean to be a woman?’

These sessions focused on facilitating a safe space for young women and girls to feel empowered, make friends, have fun, learn and raise awareness around key issues affecting young women and girls today in a safe, supported and compassionate environment.

our services of support

During 2017- 2018 a research funded by Children in Need was carried out by Nomad across Harrow and North West London getting in touch with schools, colleges and hostels and existing partners exploring the issues of trafficking and the needs of young women at risk or who have experienced trafficking.

  • Nomad works with young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds and has experienced that many young women have been in situations of trafficking. The outcome of the research was the co-design and launch of a project called Naweza (‘I Can’), created with young girls who had experienced domestic violence, trafficking, forced marriage, and sexual exploitation.

  • nomad provides in-depth, person-centred, and ongoing support tailored to the individual’s needs. We recognise that many women, including those without access to public funds, face significant barriers in accessing mainstream services.

For these women, we offer specialised advocacy, mentoring, counselling, and wellbeing workshops. Our holistic approach addresses emotional, social, and practical needs, empowering women to regain control over their lives. This ongoing support ensures that participants have continuous guidance and advocacy, reducing the risk of further harm and increasing opportunities for recovery and independence.
