at nomad we…
NOMAD specifically supports individuals who have arrived in the UK and applied for asylum, those granted refugee status and people with no recourse to public Funds.
our founders are people from refugee backgrounds and some of our trustee board have been through the same asylum process and system.
We Recognise ourselves as people from refugee backgrounds—this is part of our experience and journey, but not our entire identity. Too often, the world confines people to that label, when asylum seekers and refugees are individuals with hopes, dreams, and resilience.
how we show up
Leadership Development
At Nomad, we believe in creating tangible pathways for young people to step into leadership roles. We actively develop young people to take on roles within the Nomad team and the trustee board, ensuring that their voices and lived experiences shape the organization’s future.
Transitioning young people into leadership is a fundamental part of our mission, fostering an environment where they can influence decision-making, lead initiatives, and become change-makers within their communities.
Our commitment is to not only support young people in securing employment but to empower them with the tools, experience, and leadership opportunities necessary to thrive in their careers and beyond.
Employment Pathway
We support young people in securing meaningful employment through CV building, helping them create a strong CV that highlights their skills and experience. We provide accessible avenues for skill development and career progression, ensuring young people are equipped to take the next step towards their desired pathways.
Employer Partnerships- We actively collaborate with businesses and industries to create job placements, apprenticeships, and training programs. By fostering relationships with key stakeholders in various sectors, we work to create a direct pipeline to employment, ensuring young people have access to opportunities that match their aspirations and potential.
Work Experience
We offer hands-on opportunities for young people to gain real-world experience, enabling them to build a portfolio of work that showcases their capabilities to prospective employers.
Our approach ensures that young people not only gain technical skills but also develop confidence and a professional network. We work with local schools and colleges providing work experience with students.
Resource Building
We recognise the barriers many young people face, particularly those without access to public funds and education. To bridge this gap, we provide travel funds, access to computers, food and essential guidance to support their journey towards employment and independence.
Our goal is to eliminate obstacles that prevent young people from reaching Nomad and other crucial spaces that foster growth and opportunity. We also provide training which is fully funded such as food hygiene , safeguarding and many more avenues for development.
